Professional Sales Lab
The state-of-the-art Professional Sales Lab includes physical and technical instructional and research resources. The vision for this lab is to create a technology-enhanced, flexible learning environment for students that facilitates the development of high-demand sales, presentation and customer service skills. The lab includes three rooms equipped with Internet Protocol (IP) cameras and noise cancellation microphones that capture video and audio of all interactions in the space. The footage captured will be used primarily to critique sales role-play exercises but the technology can also be used to record other activities, such as mock interviews, research simulations and business idea pitches.
The Testing Center
The College of Business and Economic Development Testing Center is located on the second floor of Scianna Hall and can accommodate over 80 business students. The center provides ample space for online business course testing for students, and the increased number of seats helps to streamline the busiest times of the semester, such as finals week. Additionally, the lab is used to administer Microsoft certification exams such as Excel for students, faculty, and staff.
Lock Commons & Mississippi Power Foyer
The Lock Commons is an area for students to congregate, collaborate, socialize, or study. The space is also used as a reception location for events hosted by our college and is the home of Lofty, our eagle statue that just so happens to have a lucky feather. Don't forget to stop by and touch it for good luck before a final!
Study Rooms
The College of Business and Economic Development houses seven study rooms, each with its own unique color scheme and decor. This provides students an inviting learning environment in which to meet with classmates on group projects, study for exams, or enjoy quiet time between classes.
Creative Learning Lab
The Creative Learning Lab is a dedicated space for innovation, brainstorming, collaboration, and other creative activities. The classroom includes non-traditional seating and other equipment for students to work on group projects and other course requirements. Many instructors in the business school use the Creative Learning Lab for classes that incorporate innovation and creative endeavors.
Ivey Conference Room
The Nelma and Marlin Ivey Conference Room is equipped with VGA, HDMI, and AirMedia technology, which enables individuals to join the meeting from a distance. This space is available by reservation only.
The First, Center for Financial Services
The First Financial Services Center was created in 2001 through the generous support of the Citigroup/Primerica Foundation and later named for The First Bancshares, Inc. when the College of Business & Economic Development moved into Scianna Hall. Located on the second floor, its role is to prepare students for careers in the financial services industry by providing current industry standard software that facilitates an active learning environment.
Students are able to use the lab resources to screen and analyze firms for investment potential and generate reports from these evaluations. Other center activities include facilitating interaction between students and prospective employers and hosting pertinent research presentations by 51¶ºÄÌ Miss and other guest faculty members. The center houses a student trading room, providing real-time access to current financial information, economic forecasts and industry research.
