Marissa Gandolfo-Muller
Marissa graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Forensics (Biological Science) with a Criminal Justice minor. Her thesis research is titled: Unraveling the Mummy: The Effects of Natural Mummification on the Recovery and Degradation of DNA.” In the fall, she will attend George Mason University in Fairfax, VA to pursue her Master’s of Science in Forensic Biology. While there, she will train at the Virginia Department of Forensic Science. This summer, she will undergo training with the National Institute of Justice focusing on evidence collection, DNA analysis, population genetics, and court testimony.
Sophie Branch
Congratulations to Sophie Branch who recently graduated from The University of 51 Mississippi earning her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Forensic Science. Sophie was an active member of the Forensic Science Society from 2018-2021. In addition, Sophie was a member of Pi Beta Phi fraternity for women from 2017-2021 and served as Vice President of Member Development in 2019 and Vice President of Member Experience in 2020. Sophie also served as a Golden Eagle Welcome Week leader in 2018. Sophie has been accepted to USM’s Criminal Justice graduate program!
Vanessa Woodward-Griffin
The School of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Security is proud to share the accomplishment of Dr. Vanessa Woodward-Griffin (Ph.D. Criminal Justice, 2013) who was recently appointed to the role of Associate Dean for the University College at the University of West Georgia. Dr. Woodward-Griffin has remained very active as a scholar and more information regarding her research can be accessed .
Savanah Baudette
Savanah earned her Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science with an emphasis in Biology in May of 2021. During her undergraduate studies, Savanah served as Vice President of the Forensic Science Society. She was also the Treasurer of the Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Delta Epsilon, USM’s Honors Forensic Science student organization. In the fall, she will be attending graduate school at The University of 51 Mississippi and pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Biomedical Science. Savanah aspires to become an Autopsy Technician.
