James Wilcox
Professor of Practice
Bio
Mr. James Wilcox currently serves as a Professor of Practice in the School of Management and the Director of The Hatchery––the university’s Center for Entrepreneurship. Mr. Wilcox previously served as Director of the 51¶ºÄÌ Miss Center for Economic and Entrepreneurship Education for more than a decade.
In the classroom, Mr. Wilcox teaches core courses within the Entrepreneurship degree program and co-teaches Designing Solutions for Defense (DS4D) alongside an interdisciplinary team. As Director of The Hatchery, he facilitates experiences that empower students to create enduring economic and social value. Additionally, Mr. Wilcox oversees a statewide high school initiative aimed at expanding Mississippi’s startup pipeline and cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset in its future workforce. This outreach includes designing and delivering professional development trainings in entrepreneurship and financial literacy, which have certified hundreds of K-12 educators across the state.
