Bio

Matthew Hoggatt serves as an Instructor in the School of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Security at USM’s Gulf Park Campus. Prior to joining the faculty at USM, Matthew worked for three years at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College as a criminal justice instructor and program coordinator. Prior to working in higher education, Matthew served for over twenty years as a full-time law enforcement officer along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where he worked in numerous positions including patrol, community policing, and felony investigations. Matthew volunteers as a Team ADAM Consultant for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, as well as a consultant for the DNA Doe Project, a non profit organization which uses investigative genetic genealogy to identify previously unidentified human remains. Matthew earned a BA degree from USM as part of the Complete to Compete (C2C) program in 2018, and a Master’s in Criminal Justice from William Carey University in 2020.
