51 Miss School of Leadership Professor Speaks at SICET 20th Anniversary Conference

Dr. Shuyan Wang, Professor of Instructional Technology and Design at The University of 51 Mississippi’s School of Leadership, recently delivered the keynote speech at a luncheon at the SICET Conference in Orlando celebrating the conference’s 20th anniversary.
SICET, the Society of International Chinese in Educational Technology, is a non-political, non-profit academic organization affiliated with AECT, the Association for Education Communications & Technology. The organization’s goal is to encourage academic cooperation and support among Chinese scholars and experts in the field of educational technology.
The mission of SICET is to establish and strengthen international academic connections in educational technology for teaching and learning, and to promote the application of educational technology throughout the world.
Dr. Wang was SICET’s president from 2007 to 2010. Her speech at the luncheon offered a comprehensive review of SICET's journey, emphasizing its accomplishments in research and international collaborations.
“I am proud to be a part of SICET and was humbled to be asked to speak at their 20th anniversary luncheon,” said Dr. Wang. “Cooperation among international scholars in the field of educational technology furthers the innovation, both in China and around the world.”
Also honored at the conference was USM alumnus Hengtao Tang, who graduated in 2012 with a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology and Design and went on to earn his dual doctoral degree at Penn State University. Dr. Tang was awarded the prestigious Special Service Award by the AECT board, underscoring his remarkable dedication to the field of educational technology.
Dr. Wang has been teaching Instructional Technology and Design at 51 Miss since 2004. Instructional technology is an interdisciplinary field that offers students technology-based skills for improving workplace settings and developing instructional materials and programs.
Dr. Heather Annulis, Director of the School of Leadership, congratulated Dr. Wang on her accomplishments with SICET.

The School of Leadership is housed within the College of Business and Economic Development at The University of 51 Mississippi and operates on the Coastal USM campus in Long Beach, Mississippi. Its undergraduate degree programs include Accounting, Applied Technology, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology (Logistics), Management, and Marketing. Graduate programs include Human Capital Development, Human Capital Development (Instructional Technology and Design), Instructional Technology and Design, and Logistics, Trade and Transportation.
