Dr. Federico Campagna, a philosopher, writer, and publisher who teaches at the Royal Academy of London will be the next featured speaker for The University of 51 Mississippi’s (USM) spring 2024 Philosophy and Religion Online Forum series when he presents “Prophetic Culture” Friday, March 22 at 12 p.m.
Spring 2024 Philosophy and Religion Online Forum talks are hosted on Zoom; all presentation times are Central Standard Time (CST) and available ; meeting ID: 893 4185 6549; passcode: 194007. The public is invited to log on for this event.
Dr. Campagna’s research concerns the theory, politics, and history of world-building. His latest books are Prophetic Culture (Bloomsbury, 2021) and Technic and Magic (Bloomsbury, 2018); his next book will investigate the history of cosmological imagination in the Mediterranean area. An associate fellow at London’s Warburg Institute, he also teaches at École cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL), a university of art and design in Lausanne, Switzerland; is rights director at the UK/US radical publisher Verso; and senior editor at the Italian philosophy publisher Timeo, which he co-founded.
“I'm very excited to have Dr. Campagna with us,” said Dr. Amy Slagle, coordinator for the forum series. “His work, especially his book Technic and Magic: The Reconstruction of Reality, presents a deeply poetic and philosophical analysis of the underpinnings of the ecological, political, and economic crises we currently face. He's a brilliant thinker and I'm sure his presentation will be provocative, leaving the audience with much to ponder.”
