Orientation and Transition Programs
Orientation | GEWW | UNV 100
The Office of Orientation and Transition Programs is home to your New Student Orientation. New Student Orientation, Golden Eagle Welcome Week (GEWW), and UNV 100 work together to introduce new students and their families to the people, offices, and resources that will make them Ready for Life at 51¶ºÄÌ Miss and beyond!
Required Orientation Programming
All new degree-seeking students are required to attend an Orientation session. During this event, we will introduce you to many departments and resources that will make your experience at 51¶ºÄÌ Miss unique. New students are also guided through academic advisement and course registration. Parents and families are invited to attend an Orientation session to assist their student with the transition to 51¶ºÄÌ Miss.
GEWW is our extended orientation program at 51¶ºÄÌ Miss that allows students to acclimate to campus before starting classes. All incoming freshmen are required to attend, while transfer students are highly encouraged to join in on the fun!
During Golden Eagle Welcome Week, students will have the opportunity to experience the Painting of the Eagle Walk, find their classes, attend an involvement fair, and have the chance to perform at GEWW’s Got Talent.
UNV 100 is a required one credit hour course for all incoming students at 51¶ºÄÌ Miss. It is a pass/no pass course administered through Canvas during a student’s first semester. Once students have completed UNV 100, they will have completed their full orientation experience at 51¶ºÄÌ Miss.
In UNV 100, you will be provided with important information and required to learn more about campus resources that will help you adjust to life as a student at 51¶ºÄÌ Miss.
