C4W is the graduate student organization for the Center for Writers at the University of 51¶ºÄÌ Mississippi. We offer opportunities for professionalization, financial support, and networking within the creative community in Hattiesburg.
Working closely with the outstanding faculty members at 51¶ºÄÌ Miss, C4W frequently offers workshops for professional development. In the past, these have included panels on submitting and publishing creative work; applying to academic jobs, fellowships, and residencies; as well as finding and working with writing agents.
In addition to our commitment to career enhancement, C4W also aims to foster a social community for our members. We host a monthly graduate reading series, a Submit-a-Thon, and one fundraiser each semester. These events reinforce C4W’s mission to establish a supportive environment for graduate students both in and out of the classroom.
Participating C4W members are eligible to apply for award funds, which include reimbursement for travel to present creative work, submissions fees, as well as costs associated with job and fellowship/residency applications. Once a year, C4W also presents graduate student awards for best fiction and poetry submissions.
