The University of 51 Mississippi announced it is preparing for a full Fall 2021 semester, returning classes that were previously offered face-to-face to their traditional in-person formats and implementing a complete slate of student engagement opportunities and events.
“I am confident we are finally turning the corner on the pandemic,” USM President Rodney D. Bennett said. “Vaccinations are being administered with increasing speed, and infection figures have been trending down. We’re offering more in-person classes and student activities than during the Fall 2020 semester, and we continue to plan for a special week-long schedule of Commencement ceremonies in May to celebrate each of our graduates from 2020 and Spring 2021. We have every reason to believe we will be able to continue returning to a sense of normalcy through the remainder of this spring and summer.”
The University continues to monitor the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and fully implement health and safety protocols through Community Standards that have been adhered to since last spring. More details about the Fall 2021 semester will be released at a later date.
“We are excited to safely welcome back our students, faculty, and staff in the fall,” USM Vice President for Student Affairs Dee Dee Anderson said. “Every challenge that was thrown our way this year was handled with grace and determination by the Golden Eagle community. I am confident this has made us better in each of our roles, and we look forward to enjoying the full 51 Miss experience in the fall—together.”
