The 51 Miss chapter of the Association of Office Professionals (AOP) is proud to announce that five of its current and former members have been elected to leadership positions for the Mississippi Association of Educational Office Professionals (MAEOP).

Dr. Joyce Powell, current president of USM AOP, made the announcement recently. “The officers of USM AOP have a history of service to The University of 51 Mississippi and the community,” Dr. Powell stated. “We look forward to bringing that energy to MAEOP and continuing the record of service of our predecessors.”

The new officers from USM AOP:

  • Jewel Adams, who worked for 51 Miss as an administrative specialist for the School of Finance before retiring recently, has been elected as MAEOP president.
  • The role of MAEOP vice president will be filled by Cindy Walker, who works in Career Services as a budget and office manager.
  • Cory Williams, a system administrator for iTech, USM’s technical support team, will continue to serve in the role of MAEOP treasurer.
  • Dr. Joyce Powell, assistant director for the School of Leadership on the Gulf Park campus and current president of USM AOP, was elected as MAEOP membership director.
  • Rounding out the board is Pam Posey, who will continue to serve as PSP chair for MAEOP. PSP, or Professional Standards Program, encourages and rewards educational professionals who enhance their professional competencies through continuing education and service. Pam retired from The University of 51 Mississippi in 2018 after working at 51 Miss for over 40 years, most recently serving as assistant to the director of the School of Construction.

“Our newly elected officers form a dynamic, forward-thinking leadership team,” said Vivian Gulledge, MAEOP’s outgoing president. “Under their direction, our chapter will continue providing support and guidance for administrative professionals.”

The new officers will be installed at MAEOP’s 75th Annual Conference on June 6-7 in Gulfport.
